What does an IP lookup return?
A complete lookup usually includes the address, country/city, ASN, ISP, network type, native-IP classification and public risk tags. Databases update at different speeds, so two services can disagree about the same address.
- Location: country, region, city and time zone; usually a city or network node.
- Network: ASN, ISP, organization and type (residential, mobile, hosting, enterprise).
- Risk: public proxy, encrypted-tunnel, Tor, hosting and abuse signals.
How do I look up an IP address?
Paste an IPv4 or IPv6 address into the field above and submit. Do not enter a domain, port or URL. If you only want your own egress, open the homepage or the My IP page.
Private ranges such as 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x and fc00::/7 are not routable on the public internet. The page returns a not-applicable notice instead of inventing a public result.
IP lookup vs. IP check vs. IP purity
A lookup answers “whose address is this and where is it?” A check usually adds risk, proxy and network-type signals. IP purity goes further, combining history, sharing, DNS/WebRTC consistency and the requirements of a specific business.
Read the facts first, then assess risk, then validate against the target platform. No single score is a platform’s actual enforcement decision.
Frequently asked questions
Does the lookup support IPv6?
Yes. Enter a full IPv6 address; the page and API support both IPv4 and IPv6.
Why can’t I see an exact street address?
Ordinary GeoIP data resolves to a city or network node, not a personal street address. Tools claiming door-level accuracy from an IP lookup should be treated with suspicion.
Why does a private IP return no result?
Private addresses are not routable on the public internet, so public geolocation and reputation logic does not apply. The page says so explicitly.
Why do different sites disagree?
They use different databases, update schedules, proxy samples and scoring models. Cross-check the result and prefer the target platform’s actual behaviour.
After the address, check reputation and purity
Location and ASN are facts. Sign-up, payment and long-term account decisions also need reputation, proxy, DNS and WebRTC context.
