What is my IP?

This page shows the public egress IP your browser actually uses. It is not always the same as the address in your operating system or router.

Your current public IP and network report

The check runs on load. It reads the egress IP, then adds location, ASN, ISP, network type, native-IP and public risk signals.

Which IP does this page see?

When your browser visits a website, the destination usually sees your public egress IP. A home router shares one public address through NAT; corporate networks, campuses, cloud hosts and proxy services can add more egress layers.

So “my IP” can mean three different things: the address on a network adapter, the public address assigned to your router, and the final egress a website sees. This page measures the last one.

Why is it different from my system settings?

Windows ipconfig and macOS ifconfig usually show interface addresses such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x. Those addresses are not directly routable on the public internet. A website sees the result after NAT, a proxy, an encrypted tunnel or a CDN.

  • Browser-only proxy: system settings may stay local while the browser egress changes.
  • System-wide proxy or encrypted tunnel: the command line and browser may use different routes.
  • IPv6 preference: an IPv4 lookup can disagree with the IPv6 egress the browser actually uses.

What else is in the report?

Beyond the address, the report adds country/city, ASN, ISP, network type, native-IP classification and public risk flags. Geolocation normally resolves to a city or network node, not a street address.

If you are checking whether a proxy is working, trust the egress shown here, then cross-check it on the target site or a second IP lookup service.

Frequently asked questions

Is this my public IP or my local IP?

This page shows the public egress IP your browser uses to reach this site. An address such as 192.168.x.x in system settings is usually a LAN address.

Why does my IP change after reconnecting?

Dynamic addressing, carrier-grade NAT, mobile networks, proxy pools and IPv6 can all change the egress. Re-run the check to read the current value.

Does this show my exact street address?

No. GeoIP generally resolves to a city or network node, not a precise home address.

Is the lookup logged?

The server keeps minimal access logs for security and anti-abuse only; lookup cache expires in memory and is not used for advertising profiles.
